National Fraternal Society of the Deaf

The National Fraternal Society of the Deaf, NFSD, was founded in 1901 to offer the deaf community insurance and services, and NFSD developed a solid reputation for its strong advocacy on behalf of deaf people. A century later, NFSD ceased operations and its board members met for the very last time at Gallaudet University on March 6, 2010. NFSD generously donated all of its memorabilia to the Gallaudet University Archives.
