Communication Accessibility Summit
September 20 @ 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM

We are excited to share that the Maryland Governor’s Office for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing, Telecommunications Access of Maryland, and the Deaf Culture Digital Library will be hosting a 2-day summit during Deaf Awareness Month in September. This year’s theme is Communication Accessibility. This summit will bring together the deaf community and allies to explore topics and foster discussion around topics that impact the deaf community at large.
The summit will include a wide range of topics, including but not limited to:
- Next Generation 911
- Modern and emerging technologies
- ASL interpreting
- Accessibility features in modern-day devices
- Communication rights for prisoners
- Best practices in digital communication accessibility
We want to hear from you to add more topics to the list for consideration and see if you would be interested in participating, whether as a presenter, vendor, or an attendee. We will soon announce a call for proposals where you can submit proposals for a presentation/workshop/session for the summit.
This is an event for the community, and we would love for you to get involved. Involvement opportunities involve:
- Volunteering
- Sponsorship
- Presenting and moderating workshops and lightning talks
We’d love to hear from you, no matter how you’d like to get involved! If you’re interested or have any questions, feel free to reach out.
