Pioneers, Frederick County Deaf History Panel Discussion

The panel discussion, “Pioneers, Frederick County Deaf History” will take place on Tuesday, April 1, 2025 at 10:30 am at the C. Burr Artz Public Library in Frederick, MD. The presenters will be Sam Sonnenstrahl, MaryLynn Lally, Jackie Kanekuni, Linda Stoltz and Erin Buck.

The event is organized by Frederick County Executive, Jessica Fitzwater and Frederick County’s Commission on Disabilities. The organizers are excited to showcase the rich history of the Deaf Community in Frederick, highlighting both historical and contemporary figures and milestones that have mapped our local Deaf culture. The theme of this event will be “Pioneers, Frederick County Deaf History” and the goal is to celebrate the contributions of Deaf individuals and organizations in the Frederick County area, extending beyond the Maryland School for the Deaf (MSD).
