We use question prompts to spark unique convos.\n\n\nEVENT START-END | 2:00 pm – 4:00 pm EST \nDOORS OPEN | 1:45 pm EST \nWHERE | Monument City Brewing\, 1 N. Haven Street\, Baltimore\, MD 21224 \nFOOD/DRINKS | There will be beer and gluten free (Raspberry Seltzer) and non-alcoholic options (Boylan Sodas) for sale. Additionally\, the Raven’s are not playing this day! \nACCESSIBILITY & OTHER VENUE DETAILS | Monument City Brewing is wheelchair accessible. \nCOVID-19 PROCEDURES | This event will be open to those with proof of full vaccination\, and a mask will be strongly recommended. \nWhat’s it like? \nDo you wish you could have more of the kinds of conversations you have late at night where for some reason\, you feel safe talking about the things you actually care about? \nBring your friends (or come by yourself) and spend your Thursday afternoon at an event where you know everyone else is there for the same reason. \nWe’ll be offering “big talk” conversational prompts on them to get you started\, and we’ll have lots of structure to make sure that you actually talk to people and that it’s not awkward. Not feeling like answering a particular question? No worries\, we’ll have plenty to choose from\, like\, “When are you the happiest?” and\, “If you were going to become close friends with me\, what would I need to know about you?” We’ll give you ground rules to make sure you feel comfortable and safe sharing as much of yourself as possible while still feeling in complete control of how much you share. \nThere will be food and drinks for sale! \nCheck-in for this event will begin around 6:45 pm. Please do your best to arrive before 7:00 pm so we can begin as close to on time as possible. \nSkip the Small Talk is dedicated to providing an inclusive\, welcoming environment for everyone. Check out our safety policy here: tinyurl.com/ststSafety \nNeed accessibility accommodations? \nMonument City Brewing is wheelchair accessible. \nWe are happy to offer live ASL upon request. Due to the use of one-on-one conversations during the event\, we request at least five days’ notice to make sure we are able to provide an ASL interpreter for each person who needs them. Please reach out to Ashley at ashley@skipthesmalltalk.com so we can discuss what we can do for you. \nPlease see our event page for more info. \nWe are monitoring COVID rates and our COVID policy is subject to change based on local infection rates. For the safety of our staff and guest\, we require that all guests show proof of full vaccination in order to participate\, and a mask is strongly recommended. \nReady to skip the small talk with us? \nGrab a ticket since entry is on a first come first serve basis and we tend to sell out in advance for these– once we are out of tickets\, we will NOT be able to accommodate folks at the door. \nWant to check out what else is going on at Checkerspot Brewing? Check out their full event calendar here. \nIf you want to be the first to hear about our events so you don’t miss out on tickets before we sell out\, feel free to join our mailing list at Skip the Small Talk Mailing List Sign-Up

SUMMARY:ASL Trivia: DC
DESCRIPTION:Promoting Deaf Culture and ASL: One of the primary goals is to celebrate and promote Deaf culture and ASL. By hosting trivia in ASL\, the organization supports the use and recognition of ASL as a rich\, fully-fledged language and an integral part of Deaf culture. \nCreating Inclusive Social Opportunities: These events provide inclusive social settings where Deaf and hard-of-hearing individuals can participate fully without communication barriers. They also offer hearing individuals an opportunity to engage with Deaf culture and learn ASL\, fostering greater understanding and inclusivity. \nEducation and Awareness: Through fun and engaging trivia\, the organization can educate participants about Deaf history\, notable figures in the Deaf community\, and important aspects of Deaf culture\, thereby raising awareness and understanding among a broader audience. \nCommunity Building: Events like ASL trivia nights are excellent for community building\, offering a space for people from the Deaf and hearing communities to come together\, interact\, and form connections in a friendly\, entertaining environment. \nSkill Development: For both Deaf and hearing participants\, these events can be a platform for developing and practicing ASL skills in a fun\, low-pressure setting\, which is beneficial for language learning\, acquisition\, and retention. \nEmpowerment and Representation: By centering events around Deaf culture and ASL\, ASL Trivia empowers the Deaf community\, giving them a platform for visibility and representation in a world where they are often marginalized. \nFollow ASL Trivia: DC at https://www.facebook.com/ASLTriviaDC/ and https://www.instagram.com/asltriviadc/
