Died May 13\, 1877; her last home address site: Hartford\, CT. \nInfluential advocate to the US Congress on behalf of education of deaf people in the 1860s and who was known as “Queen of the Deaf Community”  Deaf wife of  Thomas Hopkins Gallaudet and mother of Edward Miner Gallaudet\, first president of Gallaudet University.  Died in Washington\, DC when visiting his son.
